As some of you may know, I play in the Manukau Concert Band and yesterday we had the privilege to join with the SGI Victorious March Band for our annual friendship concert. This concert is always a highlight of our year. We are made to feel very welcome and in a mark of appreciation I was ask by my band to make a thank you card to send to SGI and this is what I came up with.
I’m probably being a little mean showing you as some of the stamps have retired, but if you look closely you can see the new “Sheet Music” background stamp, which I thought was appropriate given the nature of the event. Equally, while some of the stamps have been retired there are many other stamp sets in the new catalogue that could be used equally well.
You don’t get a sense of perspective here but this card is A5 sized (21 x 14.9cm rather than the stand 14.9 x 10.5cm) which is twice the size of a standard card. When my band sends cards, generally everyone signs them and given that there are 40-45 of us we need plenty of room.
So, for the details, the background music was stamped with Crumb Cake ink on Very Vanilla Cardstock, then the “Thank You” (retired) was embossed with gold embossing powder. To finish of the stamping I have used another retired stamp (sorry) Avant Garden to stamp and stamp off around the greeting.
All of this has been matted and mounted in alternating Very Vanilla and Pacific Point card stock.
Thank you to Linda Dalke for the inspiration for this card.
Happy stamping!
Christine
