I must admit when I first saw the Beautiful You stamp set in the catalogue my initial thoughts were “not my kind of stamp set” but after seeing many fabulous creations, I have been converted. The set is somewhat reminiscent of the sketches on the front of old sewing patterns. There are a number of lovely uplifting sentiments that work well with images.
For this card I have stamped the image and sentiment using black Staz On ink. It may not be obvious but I have used Stampin’ Up!’s new watercolour pencils for the limbs and using Staz On avoids the possibility of the outline smudging when using the blender pens or aqua brush.
I also stamped the image on a scrap of Calypso Coral paper from the Designer Series Paper (DSP)stack and fussy cut the dress and hat which I then carefully adhered on top of the original image. This technique is referred to as Paper Piecing and is a handy way of ‘colouring’ images.
A strip of the reverse of the same (DSP) paper down the side of the top layer and finished off with piece of Calypso Coral Thick Bakers Twine tied in a bow completes the topper. This is all then mounted onto a Calypso Coral card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Be sure to check in again as I plan to share a number of other cards using the Beautiful You stamp set.
Happy stamping!
Christine
