Back in April I have the privilege to attend the Stampin’ Up! On Stage Live event, held in Auckland, New Zealand for the first time. We all had a fabulous time meeting demonstrators from around the world, playing with new products.
Dandelion Wishes is one of my favourite stamp sets from the 2019 Occasions Catalogue and made all the better as it is carrying over into the 2019/20 Annual catalogue. Yeah!
With On Stage being an international event I wanted to include some Kiwiana or at least a hint of it. Rather than doing something blatantly New Zealand I took colour inspiration from the many beaches that surround us. I love how the Bermuda Bay and Pacific ink colours combine to recreate the colours of the ocean. The photo doesn’t do it justice really – in real life it seems to glow.
To top it off, the dandelion has been gold embossed – again, in real life it shines beautifully.

I love the cheerful colours in this card CASEd from LeeAnn Correale. The photo really doesn’t do it justice. The card base and mats are Bermuda Bay, Highland Heather and Balmy Blue. These colours are also carried on into the balloon with Gorgeous Grape and Melon Mambo making it a cheerful happy card.
The balloon and clouds were cut using Up & Away dies (142748). These dies co-ordinate beautifully with the matching stamp set Lift Me Up (142896). Both these will retire shortly and are only available while stock last.
The greeting is from the Well Written dies and the Well Said stamp set. These are currently available as a bundle which saves you 10% but this offer is only available until 2 June.

Stampin’ Up! have come out with a great masculine stamp set – Geared Up Garage. It has everything you need for the motor head in your family – a car, cogs, petrol can, tool chest…..
Todays card and technique comes from Gail Ellis of Blue Rose Paper Treasures. The faux denim is created by dragging the edge of a Night of Navy ink pad over some Balmy Blue card stock, firstly down the card stock, then across the card stock.
You may notice that the car is ever so slightly light blue. This was achieved by stamping the car with Night of Navy ink and the using a blender pen to drag the colour into the image.
I decided to make a another card using the faux denim technique but I had forgotten that I had re-inked my Night of Navy ink pad thus causing the result to be a little different. As they say, hand made is not perfect and the result is different everytime. It certainly was in this instance.
In an effort to lighten the card a little, stamped the card with Staz On ink and then used a blender pen, drawing ink from a Poppy Parade ink pad and coloured away.
The greeting in both instances come from the Well Said stamp set and Well Written dies. Both of these are from the 2019 Occasions Catalogue but are carrying over into the upcoming 2019/20 Annual Catalogue. In saying that, if you purchase these two before 2 June you can order them as a bundle and save 10%. Once the annual catalogue kicks in, they are available individually at their normal price.
As I have said before, if you’ve made a hand made card, don’t forget to stamp the inside of the card and the envelope too if you are of a mind to do so. Any excuse to stamp, wouldn’t you agree. In this instance, I have stamped the petrol can, then masked it and stamped the oil splotches over the top.

Just to show how versatile the Eastern Medallions die set is, here is a card that uses minimal stamping and focuses on the die cut images.
This cards was inspired by a card created by Katy Harrison. Instead of using different colours behind I’ve kept it very simple by die cutting the Whisper White card stock, then simply mounting it on a piece Berry Burst card stock, then on a Whisper White card base.
Topped with Basic Jewels Rhinestones, it’s all done. It couldn’t get more simple than that.

In the US, Stampin’ Up! runs a subscription service for their customers whereby if you subscribe to “Paper Pumpkin” you receive a regular monthly delivering of a different card kit each month. With the release of the new 2019/20 Annual Catalogue we say goodbye to our Glossy card stock. I have had this card stock for quite some time knowing that there are some great techniques you can use. And now that it is going I suddenly realised I haven’t tried any of these techniques….. oh no! So I thought I’d better get on to it before it’s too late.
I decided I’d try a technique of putting a little bit of isopropyl alcohol on a cotton ball and then add a few drops of different coloured re-inkers. Then dabbed it onto a pieces of glossy card stock. But with some many colours to choose from, which ones should I start with? I just couldn’t decide, so I didn’t. Instead I cut a sheet of glossy card stock into 8 equal pieces and had a lovely time playing with different colours combinations.
Beautiful You
It turned each of these into cards using various stamp sets, die cuts and techniques.
First up, we have a back ground of Gorgeous Grape, Pacific Point and Bermuda Bay (some of my favourite colours). The stamped image is from the “Beautiful You” stamp set and is heat embossed with white embossing powder directly onto the glossy card stock. Don’t forget to use your embossing buddy so that the powder doesn’t stick in the wrong place.
Electic Layers
Next we have various shades of pink – Melon Mambo and Blushing Bride. I had tried another similar combination but the difference between the shades was too little and the colours tended to blend more. I prefer this variation as it is more splotchy.
The Basic Black flowers are die cuts from the “Eclectic Layers” set and provides a silhouette like image. The greeting is from the matching “Oh So Eclectic” stamp set. Both the die set and the stamp sets are retiring as of 2 June so if you like them, you need to be in quick as they are available only while stocks last.
Chase Your Dreams
Then we have Coastal Cabana and Highland Heather. Initially I didn’t like the combination which was surprising to me as I had seen them used together before. But once it dried it improved and paired with “Chase you Dreams” dies (retiring 2 June) and a bit of Silver Foil Card stock it all comes to life.
You may also notice the texture on the card base which was achieved using the Subtle Embossing folder. It gives, as the name suggests, a very subtle texture with out adding bulk. I find I use this embossing folder almost constantly.
Lovely as a Tree
Last but certainly not the least – “Lovely as a Tree”. This is SU!s longest serving stamp set and is also retiring as of 2 June, but I’m afraid if you want it, it’s too late all supplies have gone. So I’m probably being really mean showing it here, but maybe there will be a new stamp set or two in the new catalogue that could be used the same way. All I have done here is simply stamped the image directly on the card stock using Staz On black ink. Oh, I almost forgot, the colours on the glossy card stock are Pear Pizazz and Bermuda Bay.
As I mentioned earlier a lot of these products, including the Glossy card stock are retiring on 2 June (while stock last) so if you like them you need to be in quickly to avoid disappointment.

This card features the Eastern Beauty stamp set, Eastern Medallions dies, and one of the 2018/20 In Colors – Pineapple Punch.
I started with a piece of Whisper White card stock and Smokey Slate ink pad. I carefully stamped the image so that it ‘joined up’ to the adjoining stamped image, added a little Pineapple Punch detail stamp.
The focal image was also stamped in Pineapple Punch, using several different stamps from the Eastern Beauty set and die cut. A second image stamped in Shaded Spruce, die cut and then trimmed to from leaves. A piece of Smokey Slate die cut with Stitched Shapes dies form the base of the embellishment.
And if you are going to the trouble of making a handmade card (and let’s face it, it’s no trouble, it’s fun), don’t forget to stamp the inside as well (any excuse to do more stamping, and there’s always the envelope too).

The Stampin’ Up! retiring list for 2019 has recently been released and I suddenly realised that a number of stamp sets, dies and ink colour that are due to retire and I haven’t played with them nearly enough. Sooooo, here I have spent the last few days having a lovely time playing. The results of which, you will see over the next few weeks, hopefully months.
Today’s card uses a number of items retiring very soon. Firstly the beautiful Eastern Beauty stamp set and co-ordinating Eastern Medallions die set. Secondly the all the colours (excluding Whisper White) are retiring too – these colours are Fresh Fig, Tranquil Tide, and my favourite Lemon Lime Twist. It’s hard to imaging but when I first saw Lemon Lime Twist, I didn’t like it, now I’m sorry to see it go.
If you look closely you may notice that the central element has sections slightly more elevated. To do this I have added Mini Dimensionals behind the points to lift them.
All of this, including the layering and colour combinations help this card to pop. Equally there is a lot of white space. Don’t be frightened to include white space in your cards – they don’t have to full of lots of stamping or colour. In fact, I believe white space often makes the card.
Eastern Medallions
There are some many combinations you can make using either or both the stamp set and dies. All of the pieces are interchangeable and the only limitation is your imagination.

One of the joys of making my own cards, is the ability to personalise them as much or as little as you wish. In my “other life”, I am a Learning Assistant, working with children who have special needs, at the primary school my children attended a few years ago. I work with a very special group of lovely ladies and last term one left our group to move to a different area of the country. This particular lady was very supportive and helpful to me when I first started back into the work force after being a stay at home Mum for 15 years.
I decided to make a card that could only be for her. I used the popular Eclipse technique but instead of using the foam stripes to elevate the letters, I cut numerous letters in Old Olive card stock and carefully laid them one on top of another. This provides a contrast against the white of the main image.
This card may look a little familiar, if so you probably remember a very similar card I did year or two ago (you can see it HERE) with the same technique and colour scheme but this card is significant bigger (A5) and 15 people needed to be able to sign it. All I did was fold an A4 piece of cardstock in half and stamped the large daisy from the Daisy Delight stampset, and layered the matted image on top. The ribbon just helps to balance it out a little.
If you fancy making a card like this, you will need to be quick as the “Large Letter” dies are currently on the retiring list and are only available while stocks last. While this set is not the cheapest die set, in my opinion it is one of the most versatile die sets – just think, you can use any ones name, a festive greeting or pattern.
